Hello FABulous readers,

We are right around the corner from Halloween and Day of the dead, which means the theatres are RIFE with dark, creepy, eerie movies. This week’s FAB! picks include some of my favorite horror movies (with maybe a potential new favorite non-horror-but-creepy movie too?)
Can’t wait to see these, see ya at the theatres! xoxo Jenn

A group of American researchers in Antarctica dig an extraterrestrial “Thing” out of the ice. In the interest of not spoiling this fantastic film a moment more for you, I’ll simply share that The Thing has by far the best special effects I’ve ever seen in a film. And Alamo Sloans Lake is showing the special effects in 35 mm - this is a can’t miss.

You Can See Everything You Can See Everything
2026 · Documentary · 174 min · R
Directed by Nathan Fielder
IMDb9.4RT99%LB4.7
Nathan Fielder is back with a documentary about the thirty-four days before Elizabeth Holmes reports to prison. It’s looking like this film is going to be one of the highest rated of the year. Holmes herself reached out to A24 about making this documentary - she was SO convinced of her own innocence, after defrauding investors and the Silicon Valley world by claiming Theranos could run comprehensive medical tests using only a single drop of blood, that she felt certain everyone that watched would believe in her innocence too, if only she had the opportunity to speak her truth. I think Holmes and Fielder are some of the most fascinating figures of our generation, so I really cannot wait to catch this one!

The Blair Witch Project The Blair Witch Project
1999 · Horror, Mystery · 81 min · R
Directed by Daniel Myrick
IMDb6.5LB3.2
Three student filmmakers walk into the Maryland woods to shoot a documentary about a local legend and don’t walk out. This is the quintessential found footage film. I watched this for the first time earlier this year and had it spoiled for me by the pre-movie speaker :( So again, I won’t spoil this one beyond sharing that, but picture this: It’s 1999. You’re seeing copies of police reports about missing students, seeing photos of missing or deceased film students, and you get the chance to watch the footage found right after their death…
