Weekly Newsletter|No. 13 — August 4, 2026
Good morning Boulder! I had a bit of a sick day yesterday, so naturally I turned it into a daytime double feature (Toy Story 5 and The Invite) at the Cinemark. I was surprised how many people are out watching movies in the middle of the day. Both theatres were about half full, for movies that have been out a couple of weeks already. Pleasantly surprised, and hoping for a do-over soon.

So, are you feeling a little sick? Do you need to lie supine in a recliner in blasting AC? Well, it's also discount Tuesday (half off tickets at Cinemark + discounts at Alamo)! Take this as your sign. Grab some Raisinets to top your popcorn (plasticky ones from King Soopers, fancy dark chocolate ones from Sprouts, both work), get a large ICEE or strawberry Powerade on draft, and cash in on a discount Tuesday ticket. Worked wonders for me, hope it does for you too!
xoxo Jenn

Best in Show is a mockumentary following the owners and dogs spiraling into excited, anxious chaos as the Mayflower Dog Show proceeds. Very goofy, almost entirely improvised, and a wonderfully early showing from Catherine O'Hara (<3). This show is free, and is preceded by a Best Dressed Pet Photo Contest with Denver Animal Shelter.

In Pulp Fiction, Tarantino weaves together four intertwining tales of crime across Los Angeles. You already know this movie, so I'll use the space for two fun facts. Fun Fact 1: a famously Me Too'd producer was pushing for the lead to be played by Daniel Day-Lewis. Danny DeVito, one of the executive producers, pushed hard for John Travolta instead. Thank God for DeVito and Travolta. Fun Fact 2: my partner and I once dressed up as the main couple from this film. I liked the haircut so dang much I got it myself the next day.
